Founded in January of 2007 under the shade of John's Palapa, Boojum Boards has it's roots in Ecuador. When two of it's principles traveled there in 2006 they enjoyed the look and feel of surfing pure wooden boards. Made of soft and light balsa, these surf boards were easily transported and preformed well in the water.
After returning to the states John made the decision to begin working with woods in order to hone his skills to the point of shaping his own balsa boards. Beginning with a 5" board he laminated from some craft balsa and then glassed with resin, John purchased his first Maple and Redwood lenghts and laminated the company's first plank on January 17th.
